Parade Rules
Provided by 21st Ward 4th of July Association
NOTICE
Each individual Church Marshal:
A) must report to the Grand Parade Marshal at Manayunk & Lyceum Aves upon arrival
B) is responsible for his/her church’s compliance with the following rules
Parade Rules

Parade marchers are permitted to DIRECTLY HAND ITEMS to parade spectators at the sidewalk.

Throwing, tossing, or other unsafe means of distributing items is NOT PERMITTED.
-- This includes throwing candy, peanuts, etc. to children. THIS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
-- Violators shall be warned to stop. If they continue, they could be fined and prosecuted.
-- Police officers will remove repeat violators from the parade.
-- Individuals and churches allowing/permitting/encouraging dangerous distribution of any items shall accept all liability and responsibility in the event of an accident.

Stopping or counter-marching (moving in opposition to the normal flow of the parade) is PROHIBITED, except with specific permission for special marching units that are pre-approved by the Association.

Bicycles and/or roller blades are permitted but must be remain with/contained within the specific church's/school's line of march. Riding in opposition to the line of march is NOT PERMITTED. All bicycles must be pre-approved by the Association.

Commercial advertising on floats or other vehicles is prohibited and MUST BE COVERED THROUGHOUT THE PARADE.

Domestic animals, such as dogs, are permitted to parade, if ON A LEASH AND UNDER CONTROL of the owner or handler at all times.

NO HORSES are permitted in the parade with the exception of the mounted color guard, or other units of special nature, pre-approved by the Association.

No organization/group/individual, banner/sign, buttons/shirts/apparel, or other item that promotes hatred or violence will be permitted. Any group/individual deemed not in compliance with this rule will be prohibited from marching.

All motorized vehicles and motorcycles must be pre-approved by the Association.

No ATVs, mopeds, or dirt bikes.

No fireworks or sparklers.

No drones.
-
No firearms.
